BUSY BEAKS BOX

The 'Busy beaks Box' Dream became reality when managing directors Alexandra and Tina crossed paths in their rescue work, a chance conversation saw the stars align. The ladies frustrated with seeing so many unhappy, unhealthy birds both shared a single vision, something better for their feathered friends, some of whom had stolen pieces of their heart to take to rainbow bridge. Having seen first hand the impact and suffering as a consequence of poor diet, the behavioural issues arising from lack of education and at times loving families struggle to afford the hiking prices of cages, toys and products Busy Beaks Box was formed. The ladies agree fate stepped in so with passion and purpose we bring affordable training, parrot products and healthy diets to improve the lives of all our feathered friends one Busy Beak at a time because we believe

"A BUSY BEAK IS A HAPPY BEAK

WORLD PARROT TRUST

By Charlotte Foxhall, WPT Administrative Coordinator

For over 30 years, the World Parrot Trust (WPT) has worked hard to ensure the survival of parrots, one of the most threatened of all bird families, from severe deforestation and trapping that have all but wiped out many of their populations. As an international leader in parrot conservation and welfare efforts, we have aided more than 80 species in 43 countries, returning thousands of parrots to the wild and protecting millions more from the threat of extinction.

Our efforts encompass saving endangered species, stopping the wild bird trade, restoring and protecting critical habitat, encouraging community outreach, and carrying out ground-breaking field research. To develop impactful programs, we collaborate with a diverse range of individuals, partner NGOs, scientists, governments and local communities. We carry out direct, hands-on actions and provide technical, logistical and funding support to our partners so that they can meet the challenges impacting the conservation and welfare of parrots.

With millions of parrots living in homes across the world, WPT also strongly advocates for proper care to ensure that they have the best life possible. Our extensive resources range from our quarterly PsittaScene subscription magazine to our free website resources and articles, all designed to educate and support caregivers.

Resources for parrot caregivers extends to appropriate nutrition, enrichment, training and general care for their birds. Our resources are openly available and can be found in the reference library on our website. We also have a page dedicated to natural enrichment ideas so you can experiment with different nutritional, physical and sensory enrichment to encourage natural behaviours and problem-solving skills. Go to parrots.org/fun for more information.

Sharing your home with parrots can be both rewarding and challenging, therefore we hope that our resources will be of use to you as you either begin your rehoming journey or continue to care for your beloved bird.

If you have any questions about our work or would like further information about our organisation, please email me at uk@parrots.org
